Gary Lovatt has been a business owner and director since 1994, with experience spanning the financial sector as an Independent Financial Adviser and, more recently, as a guest house owner in hospitality. He currently serves as a director at the University of Cumbria and has previously held leadership roles including Chair of Furness College, Board Director and National Insurance Lead for the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), and board positions with the Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership. Gary is also Chair of the Keswick Tourism Association and a trustee for Keswick Youth Centre Services, giving him deep insight into the challenges facing SMEs, workforce development, and business strategy.
Gary regularly engages with MPs and the media on key business issues, advocating for small businesses. With nearly 20 years of military service and qualifications as a rock climbing, caving, and canoeing instructor, he brings strong leadership and a breadth of experience. He is married with two Labradors and 14 grandchildren.
